I am so sentimental for New Orleans today – I’m seeing so many wonderful shots from the parades today from old friends who are in the Crescent City today. We will actually be celebrating Shrove Tuesday this year at All Saints . I’m expecting great pancakes without the nakedness.

I miss the marching parades in New Orleans so much! In the photo (scanned; complete with coffee stains), I am proudly displaying a cabbage I caught from one of the fine gentlemen of the Irish Channel St. Patrick’s Day Club parade in (I think) 1997. I also couldn’t get enough of the ego gratification of [...]

Linda Knight is fellow poster from Citymommy. I always enjoy her perspectives and was thrilled to find that she wrote this commercial that debuted yesterday at the SuperBowl. When I saw the spot yesterday I nearly died when I saw Sockmonkey riding a mechanical bull. That kind of stuff could have Ashton Kutcher shreiking “AWESOME!” [...]

Bill Rau, president of my beloved M S Rau Antiques in New Orleans says that historically antiques perform well as investments in troubled times. Rau should know – his family has had their shop in the French Quarter for nearly a century. I have visited their beautiful space on Royal Street more times that I [...]

Abundance of riches – torpor of spirit

Right now I have a couple of hours to do anything I want to do. I have before me:
• Beverly Hills Community Services Bulletin – and pore over pages six and seven – I can stress about whether the Critter is properly stimulated prior to entering preschool.
• Read

New Orleans not in the top ten?

Published on February 17, 2008

This top ten has got to be incorrect! I lived in New Orleans for years before I came to Beverly Hills. I managed to get a design degree and run two different businesses during that time. Being on time and reliant is truly not an asset in that place. It’s [...]
